2. JavaPOS Device Support - IBM

Type in "JavaPOS" into the search engine on the IBM website Select: "IBM JavaPOS Overview"

IBM supports JavaPOS™ standards to deliver the "write once, run anywhere" promise.

IBM Retail Store Solutions made an important move toward delivering this goal when we ported a Java Virtual Machine (JVM) to our IBM 4690 Operating System. The next logical offering is JavaPOS device access that standardizes access to retail I/O through the IBM 4690 OS or Microsoft Windows operating systems. So, we recently announced a majority of our POS solutions now support the JavaPOS standard.

3. JavaPOS Device Support - Epson

Using JavaPOS allows applications to control functions specific to each device using a standard API. A flexible JavaPOS design enables the same application to run on many different types of computer systems and architectures, including stand-alone or network configurations.

You can thus use JavaPOS to build applications and drivers independently of platforms. This allows the deployment of flexible configurations using thin clients to meet widely varying system requirements.

Thin client configurations allow the construction of server-based systems that can reduce management costs for each terminal resultiong in considerable reduction of TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) over the entire system.

Epson supports several versions of the JavaPOS ADK. Please see:
